Sex Slavery

Dear Readers,

Here is a video worth watching!!

- Asha

P. S : I wish to see a better world where girls don’t have to fear their cousin/uncle/brother/father or father’s friend..

My precognitive grandmother

December 10, 2009

The person you miss the most may come in your dreams some day just to make you feel elated. Three days ago my grandmother came in my dream, hugged me and kissed me on my forehead.Morning, when I told my mom about this, tears started rolling down from her eyes and she didn’t tell anything.

But the next day…

..when I told my mom that my name is in 4 ranklists..

Mom : (After pondering for sometime) Oh..Now I got it..

Me : What????(I knew a big bomb was going to explode)

Mom : (Very seriously)Ammamma got the news yesterday itself.Thats why she came in your dreams..just to wish you..I know..I know..sob..sob…she is knowing  everything happening here..

Me (soliloquy) : What??Even before publishing it in any site!!

I was silent because I know from my experience that if I tell something  she will shout  ”Always don’t jeer at these things..She can foresee everything or why should she come to your dream yesterday without any reason??”(Then it will be continued with a lecture about supernatural powers and all)

Years back, she has told me that dogs can foresee tsunami, owls can foresee death, cats can foresee earthquakes etc..etc… And her scientific explanation goes like this.. when Yaman a.k.a. Kaalan comes to Earth, he use a special type of   whistle and this ultrasonic sound can be perceived by animals. As I am used to all these, I was not shocked of her new invention.

But just a wild thought : How different this world would be if  everyone has a feeling that someone is watching us from above (ok ok..or from below)!!

P.S  1: I miss my grandmother very much..I feel like crying whenever I think that I could have loved her even more when she was alive.

P.S 2 : Already there is a scandal for writing a truth about my father.Don’t want to repeat it :) .Only problem with my mother  is her crazy explanation for the disasters happening around.Otherwise she is perfectly normal :)

Orikkal

December 9, 2009

Once N. Mohanan (S/o N. Lalilthaambika Antharjjanam) was requested to write a story about the most influential lady in his life. When he thought of it, he realised that it is not his caring mother or loyal wife but an 18 year old girl who took him to the world of dreams and love and went away from his life on a sudden..He started writing about the girl of his life and a book was born.

Orikkal…A story of a profound relation.

It is a very short book which can be completed in one sitting .Just 40  bucks and is worth buying.

P.S : As we say bad things always come together, good things also come together.A lot of good things are happening in my life and I am flying without forgetting that “this too shall pass” :)

Matri Gulumaal

December 7, 2009

One year ago:

My two elder brothers(with a tone of arrogance as usual) :”Edee..it would not be difficult for us to get partners as the sex ratio in Kerala is 1058 Females/1000 Males. But that  is not the case with you.If you don’t want to fall in that extra 58,  just give green signal and we will get someone for you..”

Me (with an irritated tone  as usual) : Hmph!!When time comes I will get my man. Please stop these non sense!!

Seasons changed..Many of my friends got married and this news hit my parents like a thunderbolt(idithee veena pole) and other friends started searching for their partners. It was then, I slowly realised that eligible bachelors are on the verge of extinction. All good guys are either committed/married or fathers.Seconds after this shocking and painful realisation, I saw myself with my bruised ego giving green signal for my partner hunt, without knowing that it would take away my peace in all sense.

Then everything got changed.

First visible change was with my mother. She started visiting our family astrologer with umpteen number of horoscopes downloaded from different matrimonial sites and used to come back home depressed by the knowledge that  not even one horoscope was matching with mine. She became less interested in her television soaps and all the time she would say something about raahu, sukran, sani, grahanila, paapajaathakam and all.Subjects of neighbourhood talks including Paarijaatham serial actor/Kavya Madhavan/cooking recipe and all pure ladies stuff gave way to my horoscope. My horoscope was getting a heroic image with all these incidents.

My father became an active member of NSS(a society for Nairs) and he even took up the Secretary’s position so that he would be the person with largest number of friends and he dreamt that someone would bring a nice proposal to his daughter.

My brothers became full time online cursing the matrimonial sites and clearing the photo matches/matrimonial alerts from their inbox  and requesting handsome guys to marry their intelligent sister.

I didn’t bother to involve in all these things and I went on with my duties which doesn’t include the most boring job of searching a partner.

Once in a month my mother would show me a profile of a guy whose horoscope is matching with mine and who satisfies the criteria of  the other 4 in my family(It is very difficult to pass through the extreme criteria set by my parents and brothers.) and would seek my opinion.I would say NO  and each time give a different reason.

The latest reason :

Mom : Mole..This is an ideal match for you..As you say he has got an attitude.

Me : Has he written in his profile that he has got an attitude??

Mom : Ashae..Stop your play.Astrologer told his horoscope matches with your’s.S/W Engineer in Banglore.Handsome too..I liked him..And you know what ?(mirthfully)He is from Thrissur.(By the way, my mom doesn’t like people from South Kerala especially from Trivandrum and Kollam. No offence intended. For your information, my father is from Kollam. :) )

I didn’t want to miss a handsome guy with attitude because that was like a no_smiley_blog* in internet.Very rare to see.So I glanced at the picture to know whether I am getting some feeling.(My chechi has told that we will get a feeling when we see our man’s photo).I didn’t get that feeling and I wanted to find a new reason to tell NO.

Me : What is his D.O.B?Mom : Jun 22nd 1981

Me : (With a shocking face)Ho..NOOO..CANCER..

Mom : What??Who is having cancer??

Me: (in a convincing tone)Amme..He is a cancerian.Aries-Cancer combination is hard to match.

Mom :*What??* Is this your new criteria??You are an educated girl and don’t you know that these are all fake??I don’t have belief in this.(Godde..Who is saying this??)

Me : Amme..This is true..I believe in zodiac signs as much as you believe in horoscopes. I would prefer to marry a Leo who is the ideal match for Aries.(Immediately opened up a zodiac sign compatability site).Achan’s sign is Libra and your’s is Taurus.Look.. “Taurus is possessive and enjoys staying at home while Libra, something of a flirt, … Another source of resentment can be Libra’s extravagant nature which clashes with the Taurus need to stick to a budget…”.Now do you believe this??

Mom(dumbfounded and pondering) :Hmm..OK tell me which month does Leo belongs to?Now we will start looking that too*Sigh*I really doubt whether there would be a guy with all these criteria “intelligent, attitude, self respect, humour sense, reader, traveller, music lover, your photo feeling and now a Leo too..”

And with that last dialogue my depressed and perplexed mom went from my room and I resumed browsing :)

P.S : Trying my hand at writing comedy for the first time. :)

Road crossing girl

December 5, 2009

Three phases of her life :

Scene 1 :   A Plus Two student

road crossing

M.G.Road, Thrissur
Year : 2003

Holding the hands of her two friends who were standing on both sides of her, she ran across the road, without even following the basic lesson of road crossing First left then right(or is it the other way..chalo..it doesn’t matter). That was her way of crossing the road.On reaching the other side of the road, her friends used to tell with a relaxed tone “Ah!If you were not there, how would we cross this road..”.

She was very bold then.

Scene 2 : An Engineering graduate

blindman

Bakery Junction,Kottayam Town
Year : 2006

She along with her friends has been waiting near a zebra cross for a long time to cross the road.Vehicles were passing by, violating  zebra cross rules. She was getting impatient. After sometime an apple struck her head. :) Then everything was sudden. She holded her friend’s hands with her right hand and with outstretched left hands she crossed the road like a blind girl. Her friend didn’t understand anything.A blind girl was helping a normal girl to cross the road.Vehicles slowed down and the next second they were on the other side of the road. Her friend was laughing her heart out and told “Asha..You are crazy..OMG!I will never forget this road crossing experience”.

She was very crazy and bold then.

Scene 3 : A Software Engineer

Hyderabad busy road
Year :2009

She was going for an interview. She wished to be on time for the interview. She can see the building where her interview will be held, on the opposite side of the road. But she feared whether she could make it because she has been trying to cross the road for last 15 minutes and her hope was slowly dying. An autorickshaw driver noticed her for some time, then parked his auto to a side, got out of it, came near her and told “chalo..”.He crossed the road like an expert, stopping the vehicles showing his hands and she crossed the road with him. When that middle aged autorickshaw driver took her to the other side, she had no words to thank him.She smiled with a gratitude and stood there for sometime, watching that man returning to his auto on the other side of the road and then she ran for the interview.

She was neither bold nor crazy.

Moral : I thought for a long time.Got nothing :(

P.S : What happened to her boldness and craziness??

Neelathaamara

December 3, 2009

 Blue Lotus :

image034

Yesterday I saw Neelathaamara. The movie gives us the feeling of reading a book. Two hours will fly without our knowledge. They have not tried to commercialize the movie by unwanted fights /jokes/songs and scenes . Actors are good and apt for the roles.Simple and beautiful ladies..Even I couldn’t take my eyes off the screen :) ..It doesn’t have any moral or lesson to teach you.But it is a good art and is worth watching. I would say it is  a very realistic movie.I felt some similarity with Kuttimaalu when she sought the help of Neelathamara to take an important decision in her life.If you don’t know, we girls used to take the help of Tulsi leaves, fingers, coin, a small piece of paper etc etc.. to take decisions of our life. :)

Those who have read MT’s stories – you will find the protagonist very familiar.

Those who have memories of their “Tharavaadu ” – it is a movie which will give you a nostalgic feeling.

Those who don’t know the beauty of Kerala- You will want to see Kerala if you watch this movie.

My theatre experience :

I went with my cousin(girl of my age) to the movie for 5.30 PM show. We reached the theatre before 45 minutes to make sure that we won’t miss the ticket. But we were shocked to see a big queue, that too full of men.Everyone was staring at us as if we were aliens.Although I was giving my cousin courage, to be frank,  I was trembling inside. As we haven’t seen many movies from theatres, we didn’t know there is a separate queue for ladies. With the look of a bold and very experienced person in theatre I went and stood in the Gent’s queue. After sometime  a good man told us that there is a separate queue.Tuaang..I felt like I was going down to the earth.Somehow trying to mask our chalupp we moved to the ladies queue. Thanks to the good man.I couldn’t thank him then.We were the only girls in the theatre.Audience were all men of age group 18-35.I wonder if it is the same for all the movies?Anyways we got a comfortable seat in the last row and were able to watch the movie without the help of safety pins.I really enjoyed it. :) .Lyrics of songs will be soon uploaded here.

World AIDS Day

December 1, 2009

aids-ribbon2

1.India has the world’s third largest population suffering from AIDS.
2.Mumbai – AIDS capital of India.
3.Palakkad – District having largest number of AIDS patients in Kerala.

I was shocked to hear the 3rd fact because it is my district and I never thought my district would grab first position in this.I was even more shocked when I came to know that second position goes to Thrissur,  cultural capital of the state!!

When I asked my father about his, he told that it was because Palakkad is the border of Kerala and Tamilnadu and a lot of drivers pass through this way. When I did a research on this in the internet, found it to be true.

I hope to see an ‘Ustad Condom Van’ (which spread awareness about HIV/AIDS and the usage of condoms mainly among the most vulnerable section – truck drivers and their attendants) on the roads of my district very soon.It surely will not be a good sight but as we say prevention is always better than cure.

“Secrets are not meant to be shared. It should remain as a secret forever.” My friend used to tell this to me when I set priority for secrets.

Priority 1. Should not be shared with anyone at any cost.

Priority 2. Must be shared with someone.

Wait..Don’t come for a fight now.Let me elucidate.

In my opinion, we should do good at any cost and if sharing a secret do good we should go for it.Priority 2 secrets are like this.

Sometimes I need to share others secrets with my best friends to know their opinion, to find out the correct solution. I know it will be safe with them but as I fear it will be named as “break of trust”, before I share someone’s secret I will get that person’s permission. So in my college days, if a secret is told to me, it will be followed by a sentence “Don’t tell this to anyone other than Asmin and Divya”.

I really wish even without a person’s permission I had the courage to reveal his/her secret if it result  in his/her own good (because sometimes it takes long time to convince a person that revealing a secret can do good). It may lead to misunderstanding for some time. But in the long run our action will be proved right.

In these situations don’t we have right to apply our logic and to decide whether to do good by revealing a secret or to hinder a good thing by hiding a secret?

In this post, I have used the word good a lot of times.I don’t have any clear cut definition for it.For me, good is something which doesn’t harm anyone but help someone.

Now friends, I need your valuable opinion on this.Do you set priorities for secrets or do you have my friend’s opinion that secrets are never to be revealed ?

P.S : Breaking trust is not good and in this post I didn’t mean we have to do good by breaking trust.

Q: Can you tell me a sentence  in which “because” is used thrice in succession?

This was a question asked by my friend some 15 years ago(when I was in 4th standard). She told me the answer and then we both asked this question to our teachers and friends.Everyone failed.Asking a question which even teachers fail to answer. What else should we need to get a hero image??So with this question we were heroes in 4th standard for some time. :-)

Yesterday it came to my mind without any reason.Thought to put it down for those who haven’t heard it.Give a try first and if you fail to get the answer go ahead….

Ans: No sentence starts with because because because is a conjunction.
