P. S : I wish to see a better world where girls don’t have to fear their cousin/uncle/brother/father or father’s friend..

World AIDS Day

December 1, 2009

1.India has the world’s third largest population suffering from AIDS.
2.Mumbai – AIDS capital of India.
3.Palakkad – District having largest number of AIDS patients in Kerala.

I was shocked to hear the 3rd fact because it is my district and I never thought my district would grab first position in this.I was even more shocked when I came to know that second position goes to Thrissur,  cultural capital of the state!!

When I asked my father about his, he told that it was because Palakkad is the border of Kerala and Tamilnadu and a lot of drivers pass through this way. When I did a research on this in the internet, found it to be true.

I hope to see an ‘Ustad Condom Van’ (which spread awareness about HIV/AIDS and the usage of condoms mainly among the most vulnerable section – truck drivers and their attendants) on the roads of my district very soon.It surely will not be a good sight but as we say prevention is always better than cure.

“Secrets are not meant to be shared. It should remain as a secret forever.” My friend used to tell this to me when I set priority for secrets.

Priority 1. Should not be shared with anyone at any cost.

Priority 2. Must be shared with someone.

Wait..Don’t come for a fight now.Let me elucidate.

In my opinion, we should do good at any cost and if sharing a secret do good we should go for it.Priority 2 secrets are like this.

Sometimes I need to share others secrets with my best friends to know their opinion, to find out the correct solution. I know it will be safe with them but as I fear it will be named as “break of trust”, before I share someone’s secret I will get that person’s permission. So in my college days, if a secret is told to me, it will be followed by a sentence “Don’t tell this to anyone other than Asmin and Divya”.

I really wish even without a person’s permission I had the courage to reveal his/her secret if it result  in his/her own good (because sometimes it takes long time to convince a person that revealing a secret can do good). It may lead to misunderstanding for some time. But in the long run our action will be proved right.

In these situations don’t we have right to apply our logic and to decide whether to do good by revealing a secret or to hinder a good thing by hiding a secret?

In this post, I have used the word good a lot of times.I don’t have any clear cut definition for it.For me, good is something which doesn’t harm anyone but help someone.

Now friends, I need your valuable opinion on this.Do you set priorities for secrets or do you have my friend’s opinion that secrets are never to be revealed ?

P.S : Breaking trust is not good and in this post I didn’t mean we have to do good by breaking trust.
